Is your shampoo hurting your head?
We all strive to have healthy, luscious hair and invest significant time and money in its maintenance. However, it's disheartening to discover that something as simple as using shampoo can undo all our efforts. It's quite perplexing to realize that the very products marketed as nourishing, revitalizing, and rejuvenating for our hair often contain harsh chemicals that can do more harm than good. In truth, these chemicals have the potential to strip away the natural goodness from our locks. So, the question arises: is your shampoo causing harm to your precious strands and scalp?
What can I do?
Wondering what steps you can take to ensure healthy and vibrant hair? Well, the first and most empowering thing you can do is become an informed consumer and pay closer attention to the ingredients in your hair products. But here's a little secret: focusing on the health of your scalp is the key to achieving the gorgeous locks you desire. Because healthy hair starts at the follicle, where growth begins.
At the ANSC, we're passionate about ethical consumerism and we take pride in using amazing natural ingredients that are not only fantastic for your hair but also for your skin. We believe in transparency and want to help you navigate through misleading tactics, also known as 'greenwashing,' employed by some companies. It's as simple as reading the ingredient lists of the products you choose to use on your body.
Now, let's talk about a major red flag: Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS). This nasty chemical not only creates a synthetic lather but is often used as a filler ingredient in numerous soaps and shampoos. It means you end up with fewer beneficial ingredients for your hard-earned money.
What is SLS, you ask?
Let's unveil the truth about Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). Yes, it's a detergent and surfactant that helps products like shampoo and toothpaste create a satisfying lather. It's an effective cleaner, breaking surface tension and allowing better interaction with your hair or teeth. But here's the catch: SLS is commonly found in industrial cleaning agents like engine degreasers and strong detergents. It's even used as a skin irritant in testing for skin condition treatments.
Isn't it mind-boggling that we've been using products to repair our hair and scalps that have been unintentionally causing more harm? It's time to break free from this vicious cycle of damage! That's why we've crafted incredible hair and skin products using truly natural ingredients that are the complete opposite of SLS.
The solution
Our Original Solid Shampoo is a product we're incredibly proud of. It's plant oil-based, so there are no synthetic chemicals or preservatives needed to extend its shelf life. No fillers either! And let's talk lather—this shampoo bar creates one of the creamiest lathers you'll ever experience, thanks to the inclusion of coconut oil. Simply rub the bar on your scalp and witness the magic unfold.
But that's not all. Our shampoo bar is packed with the nourishing power of sweet almond, grapeseed, and olive oil. These oils, rich in vitamin E, work wonders in smoothing your strands. Plus, we've added Petitgrain essential oil to maintain scalp moisture, Patchouli essential oil to stimulate nerves and prevent hair loss, and Mandarin essential oil to promote cell and tissue growth, giving you the luscious locks you've always desired.
And here's the best part: our solid bar is completely biodegradable, making it an eco-friendly choice. It's also incredibly versatile—you can use it not only as a shampoo but also as a body cleanser. It's the ultimate travel companion, perfect for your beach or gym bag.
A few tips on beginning your journey with a Solid Shampoo Bar?
When you switch to our solid shampoos, there's something called a "transition period" or a "detox phase" that you might go through. It usually lasts for about 1 to 4 weeks. During this time, we recommend using a little less shampoo than you're used to, and be sure to rinse your hair really well. Our solid shampoos are oil-based, so that's why it's important to give your hair a good rinse.
If you feel like you need some extra help during this phase, you can try adding a bit of argan oil to your hair after your shower. It can give your hair that extra boost. Some of our customers have found that using both our shampoo and conditioner works great for them, but hey, it's totally up to you. It won't affect the softness of your hair either way. So, give it a go and see what works best for you!
