You're the First to Know
This week we cut together a blooper reel. We're always filming to camera here, and most of it never makes it out: the fluffed lines, the laughing fits, the takes where someone walks through the back of the shot. Watching it, what struck me wasn't the mistakes. It was how far this team has come. A few years ago we didn't have the people to make a video like that, let alone the confidence to be that silly in front of a camera. We're real people, and we have a lot of fun. I'm proud of that.
It's been that sort of year. Rewarding in ways I didn't expect, and hard in ways I think a lot of you know about already.
A Hard Year, for Small Business and for a Lot of You
I don't need to tell you what things cost. Most of us are watching every dollar, and I've watched a lot of small businesses this year decide they couldn't keep going. We're still here, and I'm under no illusion about why. It's the people who keep buying our soap, telling their friends, and writing to us about what it's done for their skin. And it's the people who make it.
So this year I want our Black Friday to do two things. Say thank you to you, properly. And bring in a whole lot of new people who've never tried us, because that's what keeps a small business going.
Black Friday, But Green
Black Friday money goes to big brands. Ours goes into soap made in Melbourne.
That's the whole reason we call ours Black Friday but Green. When you buy from us on sale, you're not buying something made cheaply to hit a price. You're buying the same bars we make every week in Dandenong, from Australian plant oils, poured and cut and boxed by the people in that blooper reel. The discount comes out of our margin, not out of the soap.
What's On Sale
From 10 am on Tuesday 10 November until Monday 30 November:
- 40–50% off one-batch runs and retired lines. These are the bars we made once, and they go first.
- 30% off bulk and bundles.
- 25% off the rest.
- Free gifts at $130 and $180.
- Launch day only: a free 500ml stainless steel bottle of liquid soap with any 5L.
